Doing things yourself can be a great way to take control of your life and accomplish your goals. It allows you to learn from your experiences and develop personal responsibility. However, hiring a life coach can also be beneficial, as they can provide guidance, support, and accountability. They can help you identify and overcome obstacles, set and achieve goals, and make positive changes in your life. Ultimately, the choice between doing things yourself and hiring a life coach will depend on your individual needs and preferences.
When it comes to personal development, many people find themselves wondering whether they should take the “do-it-yourself” approach or hire a life coach. Both options have their pros and cons, and the decision ultimately depends on your individual needs and goals.
The Do-It-Yourself Approach
One of the main advantages of doing things yourself is that you have complete control over the process. You can set your own goals, make your own decisions, and learn from your own experiences. This can be empowering and help you develop personal responsibility. Additionally, you may find that you are able to achieve your goals more quickly and efficiently when you take the DIY approach. You have a sense of independence and control.
However, there are also some downsides to doing things yourself. For one, you may lack the knowledge and resources needed to achieve your goals therefore staying stuck to make significant changes. You are only seeing things subjectively and not from the outside in. Additionally, you may find yourself feeling alone and unsupported, which can make the journey more difficult and lengthier. It is rather difficult to spot your own blind spots at times. And sometimes you may feel like you are duct taping it altogether and treading water.
Hiring a Certified Life Coach
On the other hand, hiring a life coach can provide a number of benefits. Life coaches are professionals who are trained to help you identify and overcome obstacles, set and achieve goals, and make positive changes in your life. They can provide guidance, support, and accountability, which can be incredibly valuable when you’re trying to make changes in your life.
Another advantage of hiring a life coach is that they can offer you a fresh perspective. They’re an unbiased third party that can help you see things from a different angle, which can be incredibly helpful when you’re feeling stuck. They give you those Ah-Ha moments at times. Yes, it is an investment but the upside of that is that you are not wasting any time to get up to speed, pinpointing where you are currently at to where you want to go and life coaches are pretty awesome at hearing, seeing, and noticing things you never even thought of. Even if you go in with the mentality of seeking fast results, a life coach, can place you exactly where you are at and build from that spot on point in your life and pointing out things that are not working. Best of all, everything is confidential and private, just between the two of you.

Ultimately, the choice between doing things yourself and hiring a life coach will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you’re feeling confident and self-motivated, the DIY approach may be the best option for you. Make sure to check in with yourself if you are going this route. However, if you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, a life coach may be able to help you get back on track. You may just need a life coach twice a month to once a month as you learn to track and build up on that growth curve.
In conclusion, both the DIY approach and hiring a life coach has its own advantages and disadvantages, it’s up to you to weigh your options and decide which approach will best support you in achieving your personal development goals.
